Research
Primary Research Efforts
The Sustainable House is the worlds’ highest ranked and highest rated home for: LEED for Homes®, Energy Star® and Minnesota GreenStar® programs. It is incorporates a Permaculture designed landscape, utilizes a Xeriscape criteria for landscaping, it utilizes the criteria for Century Design Shelters, American Lung Association healthy home criteria, Universal Living criteria and Smart House criteria. This 1948 remodel in Minnetonka, Minnesota, USA was created by 7 teams of 248 individuals in 2007 and 2008.
Green Weddings
Live Green, Live Smart is currently researching green weddings to further explore the influence that a green wedding has on the long-term impact of a couple's sustainable lifestyle and building and remodeling habits. Live Green, Live Smart is also creating standards for the emerging green wedding industry which it will freely share with individuals and organizations.
LEED Certification
Live Green, Live Smart's The Sustainable House, a LEED for Homes Pilot Project received the US Green Building Council's (USGBC) highest certification score - LEED Platinum! The Sustainable House is the first remodeled residence to ever receive this ultra-high level of LEED certification.
GreenStar Certification
The Sustainable House is also the first Minnesota GreenStar Gold level home; this is Minnesota GreenStar’s highest rating.

SNUG HOUSE Project
Snug House is the winner of the 2008 Live Green, Live Smart Design Award for an affordable, green shelter. Peter Yackel led the design project created in a joint venture with LOCUS Architecture out of Minneapolis. To view the project go to SNUG HOUSE. Training, Consulting and Certification Programs
Certification Programs
The Live Green, Live Smart / Certified Professional (CP) designation is a certification that is earned by a select few professionals. The CP Training is done in joint venture with CSP. This certification is designed to educate Real Estate professional on the topics or Sustainability, Green Building Science and provide them with educational materials for their practice.
