Live Green, Live Smart^TM is looking for educational material suitable for publication on our web site and in other media.  If you are interested in submitting material that promotes the values and concepts of eco-friendly living and sustainable practices for publication on the Live Green, Live Smart^TM Library pages of the LGLS website, please review the following criteria carefully before you contact us as a prospective on-line publisher of your contribution. 

How LGLS University Website Publication Works
Our goal is to provide information that fits the needs of this site's audience, which includes professionals, policymakers, educators, students, and journalists.

You may be asked to rewrite or provide fact checking information before your submission is approved by site editors.  Work should be professional in presentation, checked for grammar and typos and common standards of language, punctuation, and non-plagiarism are to be observed before submission. LGLS editors may make changes with or without your permission.

You will be credited for your submission in a byline.

Live Green, Live Smart^TM does not pay for materials that are submitted at this location.

All submissions will become the property of Live Green, Live Smart^TM, LLC, and may be used by Live Green, Live Smart^TM in a variety of different digital or hard publication formats without the permission of the artist, author or creator.

Live Green, Live Smart^TM sponsors research and presentations as necessary to complete information on major subject categories (State of the Planet, Shelter, Transportation, Lifestyle). Inquiries should be sent to editor@livegreenlivesmart.org.

Documents must comply with the Terms and Conditions, including but not limited to: no misuse of copyrighted materials; no indecency or pornography; no libelous statements; respect for the privacy of others.

If you see any problem or violation of terms with a posted article, paper, presentation artwork, or photograph on the Live Green, Live Smart^TM Library site, please note the document title and send your concern with a brief note, your name and e-mail address to: editor@livegreenlivesmart.org.

PLEASE NOTE: All materials that are submitted to the Live Green, Live Smart^TM Library will be reviewed, fact checked, may be edited, and are subject to peer review to insure the quality and accuracy of the materials.  Materials submitted to the community section of this web site are not subject to these controls. Rather they are monitored by the community for accuracy and quality. Live Green, Live Smart^TM reserves the right to reject any materials.

Articles, White Papers, Artworks, Photographs, and PowerPoints

• Peer reviewed documents are best - those using Wikipedia and similar broad-based databases are less compelling for inclusion in the LGLS University pages.
• All facts and sources listed in a document must be noted, and the citation must be verifiable.
• Illustrations and similar inclusions must be credited, and if they are copyright-protected the permission of owner must be included at the time of submission.
• Material intended for classroom use should include age-level information in the description of the work.
• Photographs that will be offered as free downloads must be accompanied by a MODEL RELEASE for persons appearing in them. Print a release out and have the model sign it and fax the release to: 952-476-0264 or send it as a PDF file to editor@livegreenlivesmart.org.

Technical Requirements for Submitting Material

• Documents must be submitted as Microsoft Word Documents, English Version produced after 2000.
• PowerPoint presentations must be sent in a version of Microsoft PowerPoint produced after 2000.
• Both Mac and PC documents are acceptable.
• Compressed documents should be sent as a .ZIP compression.
• Submissions are scanned for viruses and other problems, and may be rejected without notice if infected or corrupted.
• Illustrations, Photographs, Art included in documents should be in a .jpg, .gif, .psd, or .tiff format, and should not exceed 300 DPI or 2 MB in size.
• PowerPoint presentations must not exceed 2 MB; background should be plain and the text in a common easy-to-read font such as Times, Arial, Helvetica.  Sources must be credited as with all submissions.  
• Do not submit PDF files.
  

Checklist of Information Needed with All Submissions

• Title ("Hybrid Cars Go the Distance" "Green-er Lawns and Gardens - a Photo Essay").
• Topic Category (Transportation, Shelter, Lifestyle, Water).
• Author name and location (Johan Adams, Dubuque, Iowa).
• Date work was completed.
• E-mail address of author and submitter.
• Full phone number of submitter and author, including area code (and including country code if outside the United States) for verification purposes only.
• A summary of not more than 250 words describing the content of the submission ("The attached article ‘Best Breeds of Hybrid Cars' outlines the mileage achieved by 2007 hybrid autos.  The article relies on information found on public web sites, in articles from Consumer Reports and from a 2006 research paper by the University of Minnesota Transportation & Engineering Department, Dr. Ann Carter and personal test-drives. • For previously published material, provide the venue and date of that earlier publication.
• Permission for publication and unlimited use by the public should be made explicit ("I have the right to grant full use of this document for any and all media publication, and do so under the terms and conditions of the LGLS website."); failure to include this statement does not imply failure to give this permission.  See the LGLS Terms of Use elsewhere on this site.
